ก้อย อาร์ต แกเลอรี่ นำเสนอ “Densen / Plus α” นิทรรศการทัศนศิลป์ โดย ไอจิ ซูมิ ซึ่งจะจัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 3 – 31 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2555 ไอจิ ซูมิ ศิลปินชาวญี่ปุ่นซึ่งปัจจุบันอาศัยอยู่ในนิวยอร์ค นำเสนอผลงานล่าสุดที่สะท้อนแนวคิดสร้างสรรค์ผ่านการออกแบบและจัดวางงานในรูปแบบทัศนศิลป์ ผลงานที่ผ่านมาของไอจิ ซูมิ ได้รับการดูแลโดย อีริค ไชเนอร์ (Eric Shiner) ผู้อำนวยการพิพิธภัณฑ์ Andy Warhol และภัณฑรักษ์ดูแลผลงานให้กับศิลปินชาวญี่ปุ่นที่มีชื่อเสืยงโด่งดัง อาทิ โยโกะ โอโนะ และ ยาโยอิ คูซาม่า
Koi Art Gallery is proud to present “Densen / Plus α” visual art exhibition to be held from May 3 – 31, 2012. This solo exhibition showcases the latest works of New York based Japanese artist, Eiji Sumi, who continuously tap into the full range of creative resources to express conceptual, yet innovative view of visual art and design. Eiji Sumi has been curetted twice by Eric Shiner, director of Andy Warhol Museum and curator worked with famous Japanese artists such as Yoko Ono and Yayoi Kusama.
ด้วยความตั้งใจที่จะรณรงค์สร้างการรับรู้เกี่ยวกับการติดตั้งสายไฟฟ้าใต้ดินซึ่งมีส่วนสำคัญในการสร้างทัศนียภาพที่งดงามให้กับเมือง ไอจิ ซูมิ จึงได้มองหาแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานพร้อมไปกับการทดลองนำงานศิลปะแขนงต่าง ๆ มาประกอบกัน ตลอดจนการตั้งคำถามกับตนเองว่า ถ้าจะวาดภาพสายไฟ หรือจะลองเอาสายไฟมาโยงใยในหอศิลป์ แล้วถ้าหากมีสายไฟเกลื่อนกลาดในกรุงปารีสจะเป็นอย่างไร เขานำศิลปะร่วมสมัยแขนงต่างๆ มาผสานกันไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรม ภาพถ่าย และการออกแบบแสง เพื่อสร้างสรรค์งานทัศนศิลป์ซึ่งไม่เหมือนใคร โดยผู้ชมงานจะได้ประสบการณ์ที่แตกต่าง จากการจัดวางชิ้นงานประติมากรรมจากสายไฟที่ตั้งขวางงานอื่นๆ ในแกเลอรี่ รวมทั้งผลลัพธ์จาการออกแบบแสงเงาพาดผ่านสายไฟที่ให้ความรู้สึกที่แปลกและแตกต่าง
With aims to raise consciousness on undergrounding power cable, Eiji Sumi has been inspired to examine objects that would add extra something and stimulate our conscious. What about still life painting of power cables? What if there are power cables inside gallery? What if there are power cables in Paris? Eiji Sumi, examines and experiments his point of view of Power Cables and Electricity in using the method of contemporary visual art. Sumi combined various field of arts such as paintings, sculptural installation, lighting design and photography to create this unique visual art exhibition. Visitor will experience strange sensation that cable sculpture is interfering and blocking the other work inside the gallery. Also, lighting design which is shot towards the cables will create many shadows as an installation result.
